The project |
The Beauvoir Webinar Series began in 2020 and was conceived out of the interest of Beauvoir scholars whose intention is to make present the continuous discourse on Beauvoir, her life, works, philosophy, influence even at the time of crisis.
While the pandemic has negatively impacted the lives of many people all over the world, this project anchors on the advantage of the capacity to communicate with the people all over the world to make possible the continual learning about life. In recognition of the fact that there is still much to be learned from Beauvoir, the Beauvoir Webinar Series will focus on the various facets of her philosophy to be shared by invited speakers and/or commentators. We also work closely with the journal Simone de Beauvoir Studies: many sessions are dedicated to the journal's articles and special issues. |
Organizing Team |
The first session (October 2020) was conceived by Gina Opiniano (University of Santo Tomas) with the help of Marine Rouch (University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès). As the Coordinator of Communications of the International SdB Society, Marine has then worked with Gina to make the series a major and regular online event of the Society.
As of January 2026, the permanent organizing team consists of Thomas Chesworth (University of Birmingham) and Marine Rouch (University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès). |
